Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan and Fatima Jinnah are two of the most important women in Pakistan's history. As refugees poured into Pakistan from India after the independence from the British, Begum Liaquat organized women and helped them take charge of their lives and families by offering them education and work. Fatima Jinnah has long been considered a role model for Pakistani girls. Living independently much of her life, she ran an impressive campaign for President long before Benazir Bhutto appeared on the scene.

In this issue of Jazbah.org, we also talk to Iranian-American author Dr. Shahla Haeri about the experience of writing her most recent book, No Shame for the Sun. The book is Dr. Haeri's attempt to introduce the Western public to another type of Muslim women, the educated professionals. Also in this issue, journalist, Asra Nomani, writes about her struggle to find a rightful place for women in her local mosque in an American city.

As always, we welcome constructive feedback from our readers. Thank you for visiting Jazbah.org!
